Tip: Recipe Look-up Shortcut

How often do you get slowed down in the kitchen by having to look up a recipe?

If you’re like most people, probably a lot!!!

Well, I am going to give you a tip that may just change that forever. I actually quite accidentally discovered it.

Here it is: Place shortened recipe steps directly on  the container of the main ingredient.

Place shortened recipe directly on the container of the main ingredient

So what does this mean?

Let me explain using an example that  got me started on this idea.

I had found this amazing Mac N Cheese recipe where the ingredient combination worked just great for for the whole family. And I found myself looking it up on my phone or tablet each time I wanted to make it. By now I was pretty familiar with the steps but I still needed to refer to the recipe for the quantities of each ingredient. That is when I got this brainwave:

Why not write down those quantities of all ingredients and other key steps on a piece of paper and stick it to the elbow macaroni pasta container?

Yes….so that is exactaly what I did and this is what it looks like:

Not very elegant but it did the trick. I now have all the info I need to make mac n cheese on the main ingredient so it helps me quickly consult the proportions of the ingredients as I dive into the cooking.

Then, I began to do this with few other recipes I found myself making often.

Granola recipe went on the rolled oats container.

Cinnamon Rolls recipe, Pizza Crust recipe and few others went on the All Purpose Flour container.

Brownie recipe went on the Cocoa Powder container.

You get the idea.

So, what do you plan to do with this tip? Which recipes do you plan on having handy in your kitchen to save time? Let me know in the comments below.
