I cannot tell you how many time I have over cooked eggs when I tried hard boiling them in water on a stovetop. I mean I have seriously over cooked eggs.
Overcooked may be an understatement. One time I managed to have crispy black burst-all-over-the-kitchen over cooked eggs that are no good except for trash with the added bonus of a nasty smell that takes a while to get rid of. Not to mention all the cleaning.
So when I discovered that you can use the pressure cooker to cook boiled eggs to perfection, I was stoked. And because of the in-built timer, no more overcooking eggs for me. Ever!
I’ve been told that the best recipe of making hard boiled eggs in the pressure cooker is to follow the 5-5-5 rule.
5 Minutes of High Pressure
You basically place the eggs in the cooker with 1 cup of water, seal the lid and set the timer for High Pressure Cooking for 5 minutes. This works whether you want to cook just 1 egg or a dozen eggs. I think I may even have cooked up to 15 eggs at a time once.

5 Minutes of Natural Release
Once the pressure cooking is done, you are supposed to wait at least 5 minutes before doing the quick release of the pressure valve. Some folks are particular about this that they wait exactly 5 minutes before doing the quick release. But I am not one of those people. I just get to it when I can. Sometimes, I have let it sit and fully natural release without having to quick release at all.

5 Minutes in an Ice Bath
All you do is fill a basin or container big enough to hold all the eggs, fill it with some water and ice cubes. Then you let the cooked eggs sit in them for at least 5 minutes. I try to do this step if I take out the eggs while they are still super hot…but I’ve also skipped this step and did not find much of a difference either way.

The Results
And what about the end result? Perfectly cooked hard boiled eggs that are so easy to peel. All I do is apply a little pressure and the shell just cracks in large chunks and comes right off.

Eggs cooked to perfection without much fuss.
The only question that remains is, which of the many ways am I going to use them?
