There used to be a time in my life I didn’t pay attention to what kind of hand soap I stocked up at our home. I would just get the soap that looked and smelled good and did not cost a lot. Every now and then I would get the foaming hand soap from my favorite store when they would go on sale during the holiday season. My kids loved the foaming soap and even remarked to me that they would wash their hands more if we had the foaming soap at each of our sinks (what sass).
However more recently, maybe in the last year or so, I have been getting more educated and conscious about the products we use around in our home and slowing making the switch to read the ingredients even on items we do not ingest but come in contact with our body – like soap. This meant that buying the fancy foaming hand soap meant either compromising on the quality or the price.
So, I began looking into other options and that’s when I discovered it was pretty easy to make your own foaming hand soap using any regular soap. All you needed was the liquid soap of your choice, water and the right pump.

Get the dispensers ready
I happened to have a few empty or nearing empty soap bottles already fitted with one of those special pumps that make the soap foams. If you do not have those, you can purchase those foaming dispensers separately.

Get the soap
Next I got some good quality liquid soap that I trusted. I picked this lavender scented Castile soap from Sprouts but you can pick whichever soap you choose.

Fill them up
To make the foaming soap, all you do is fill the jar about a 1/4 way full. I just eye ball the measurement and not very exact.

And then fill the rest with water.

Use them
There you have it, folks! That’s all there is to it. You’ve got yourself some good foaming hand soap for a fraction of the cost. And by reusing the dispensers, you just reduced some waste. If only everything else in life was this simple and easy.
