For those of you who love to make your own fresh salsa at home but not up for all the chopping and dicing, I’ve got a quick and easy tip for you on how to get the job done by sharing how I make our vey own salsa.
In this edition I will use the tomatillos to make Salsa Verde but you can do this also with regular tomatoes for the red salsa version.
Toss All the Ingredients in a Baking Dish
In a 8×8 or similar size baking dish, go ahead and toss in the following ingredients:
- Tomatillos washed and cut in halves
- Half an onion cut in chunks
- Few Jalapeño peppers cut along the middle
- Few garlic cloves
Feel free to adjust the quantities based on your preferences. This is what my dish looked like.

Bake
Next go ahead and bake it at 350F for about 30-40 minutes until you can see all the ingredients are well cooked. I used my countertop toaster oven to be more efficient.

And this is how well they were cooked when I was done baking them. Just roasted enough to soften the ingredients to cook them but not over cooked.

Add Final Touches and Blend It All
The final step is to add it all to your food processor or blender and blend it all. At this point, you can add few more ingredients like:
- Salt
- Lemon juice
- Cilantro
- Avocado (totally optional)

There you have it folks…your yummy delicious salsa is ready to be devoured with some chips or crackers or veggies of your choice. Enjoy!
